What to bring

What to bring

For all class attendees:

  • A local map for where you live.
  • A state map for where you live.
  • Names and information for all of the people you want to include in your plan.
  • Daily locations for people in your plan (work, school, etc.) the places you frequent most.

Summer Outdoor Class Attendees:

You will be spending three nights in a camp-out classroom setting. Class attendees will be provided with a cot, sleeping bag, pillow, and share with others a community tent(s) (gender separate). You’ll be getting dirty, possibly wet, preparing your food – in the woods. The standard saying in Colorado is, “if you don’t like the weather wait an hour”.

Clothing:
We suggest you bring a nice set of extra clothes to wear home. Pack a garbage bag in your luggage, to put your dirty clothes in for the trip home.

The usual overnight temperature can be in the low 40’s and afternoon highs in the upper 70’s. July could bring daytime highs in the mid to upper 80’s.

We want you to dress warm, it is a whole lot easier to take a coat off, than to wish you had one. A nice pair of hiking boots, ones you don’t mind getting wet or dirty.

If your hands are soft, bring a pair of work gloves. Bring a hat, after a couple of nights in a sleeping bag; well, you understand.

It might rain. So… bring something to keep you dry, or you will get to be the example of alternative uses for large garbage bags.

Personal Items:
You will be camping at elevations ranging from 8400-9500 feet. The UV of the sun is much higher at these altitudes, so… bring along some sun-screen. Also the relative humidity is low, so if you have dry skin – bring some lotion (non-scented).

Food is provided, but don’t forget your overnight bag with soap, toothbrush, razor, special medicines, etc.

It is best if you don’t use a scented deodorant, the bugs just love scented stuff.

For Ladies: Try not to book a class during your menstrual cycle (for your comfort and safety).

Please: We ask our attendees to not bring any alcohol.
